Trying to stay healthy is easier said than done and if you are like me, then you don’t have the strongest willpower. I am constantly craving chocolates after dinner and always wanting salty snacks in between meals. Kicking those bad habits can be really tough often nothing but a failure trying to do so. So what can you do to keep healthy whilst still enjoying life?

Obviously diet changes are necessary if you are wanting to lose weight and gain muscle, however a lot of these juice diets are actually not that good for you. Although they may seem enticing because of their speedy results, they are not as realistic as long term diets as you are very likely to put the weight back on very quickly once you come off the diet. These diet plans are also not cheap and can cost hundreds of pounds on each order you make. As a food lover, I also find it very hard to believe that these diets are that enjoyable. I mean, I love my fruit and veg but I’m unsure if only eating those things would make me entirely happy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure these diets have a lot of benefits but I just cant say I’m completely sold on them.

Some things that I have found to help me lose a bit of timber has been going gluten free. While this wasn’t a choice of mine (lets face it gluten makes things taste great!) it was more for health reasons that I had to cut it out. I have actually found that a lot of the gluten free items are pretty delicious! Gluten is something that stays in your gut and takes a really long time to get out of your system. But once you have cut it out, after a couple of weeks you will start to notice the difference. That is if you can help yourself from cheating!! Although gluten free items are slightly more expensive, it is still a lot cheaper than diet plans such as Juice Plus.

Cutting down on alcohol is also a big must if you want to stay healthy. Now I definitely am one to enjoy a glass or two with friends. But I think the key is to know when to stop; a talent that I am only just learning to master! Maybe try swapping your glass of wine to something lighter in calories such as a spirit and soda. Admittedly not as enjoyable, but a good compromise.

And last but not least, the famous gym. The word we all hate our friends to talk about, telling us how well they’ve done on their last visit to this gym. The word that makes us roll our eyes and feel a large amount of self guilt for not going ourselves. I’m right there with you don’t worry! But once you start doing exercise, you actually start to get addicted to it. Exercise releases endorphin’s which scientifically makes you feel great. Try getting hold of a gym buddy too, it helps you to compete with one another and makes you actually go!!

Once you start seeing results, you will start to feel and look great. Just stay motivated!!
