As the nights draw in, the trees leaves begin to rust and crispy, bright days turn to cold, cosy nights, there is no mistaking that fall is in the air.

Ah October, a time of year that favours evenings in around a fire, bundled under blankets with loved ones, all the while sipping on hot spiced beverages and escaping from the chill of the changing seasons.

In our humble opinion, with all of its homely charm, autumn has got to be one of the best months to dig out those aprons and get baking up a storm in the kitchen. So as an ode to our love for Octobers and sweet nights in, here are our all-time favourite autumnal recipes you must try this fall…

Cake

Pumpkin Pie

It’s an oldie, but a goody. This American classic pumpkin pie is incredibly easy to make and is the perfect end to any fall family dinner.

  • 1 1/3 cups Pumpkin puree
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 1/4 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 3 tsp Pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Shortbread pie crust, homemade or store-bought refrigerated
  • 1 14-ounce can Condensed milk, sweetened

 

Butter

Whipped Cinnamon Pumpkin Butter

This decadently whipped butter is incredibly divine spread over warm bread, freshly baked muffins, pancakes, waffles, or even for dipping fruit if something healthier takes you’re fancy.

  • 3/8 cup Pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, ground
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 sticks Butter, unsalted

 

Chocolate Apples

Fall wouldn’t be fall without caramel apples, but to spare you all the sugar burns and the unsightly broken teeth, why try these chocolate apples slices instead. Drizzle with caramel and top with your fave treats.

  • 2 large green apples
  • 1 cup Caramels
  • 3 1/2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil

Pumpkin

Pumpkin spiced Hot Chocolate

This scrummy recipe will take your old hot choccy to the next level. The perfect fall warmer for a night in with a good movie…Hocus Pocus anyone?

  • 2 tbsp Pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup Whipping cream or coconut cream
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 tsp Clove, ground
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, freshly ground
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • Dairy
  • 1 cup Milk or milk substitute

Cider Cake

Cider Cake

Packed ‘fall’ of seasonal fruits (pardon the pun) this apple, walnut cider cake is bursting with flavours and spices that encompass the autumnal season.

  • 6 peeled cored and cut into 1cm pieces 750g eating apples
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger, ground
  • 50 g Sultanas and raisins
  • 2 Eggs, medium free-range
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 tsp Cloves, ground
  • 15 g Cornflour
  • 300 g Golden caster sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 215 g Plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 100 g Walnuts, lightly toasted
  • 6 tbsp Sweet cider, medium
  • 175 g Butter

 

Smores

S’mores Bark

Think inside out s’mores, meets rocky road…and you don’t even need a camp fire!

  • 1 cup Marshmallow fluff
  • 3 1/2 cups Milk chocolate chips
  • 3 sheets Graham crackers
