New York Fashion Week kicked of yesterday in Lincoln Centre and team Semple witnessed a show that could have melted the frozen Central Park with its warm shades. Loyal to its brand essence, Desigual presented a colour party in ‘Love in the City’, a collection that cheered up everyone’s mood drawing smiles among the audience.
Victoria’s Secret angel, Candice Swanepoel opened the show throwing kisses to the attendees that looked at her with awe. The collection was filled with form fitting jersey mini dresses, flowing maxi dresses graced with 70’s style inspiration, metallic festive wear and chic black and white graphic coats. Violet, navy, hunter green, burgundy and tawny were draped and tailored into minimalist simplicity radiating positivity in sumptuous jacquard, tulle and wool.
Barcelona’s skyline dominated the catwalk, which was coloured with bright shades of yellow simulating the city’s sunshine. Strongly inspired by the Catalan city, the collection reflected all those magic places that the metropolis hides, combining different prints and fabrics on the same looks. Mixing polka dots with flowers and squared lines seemed an impossible combination but looked wicked under the city’s light. The collection invites you to fall in love with the city again and again. With Barcelona in your heart, no matter how grey the sky can be that positivity will always come to mind. As they say “When La Vida Es Chula, love is always in the air”.
During the show we could spot a few celebrities among the audience. Karolina Kukova, Siva Kaneswaran of “The Wanted”, Jill Zarin, Adrienne Bailon of “The Real”, Jackie Cruz and Vicky Jeudy of “Orange is the New Black”, Stassi Schroeder of “Vanderpump Rules” were the ambassadors of a brand that step by step is conquering the industry because of its unique personality.
