Many of us are still keen to improve ourselves and learn more about our passions, no matter the age, job or situation. People who didn’t attend university yet fortunately landed themselves in a wonderful job, but still wish to educate themselves in some way,or those who graduated long ago but desire a qualification in something wholly different. I believe in the power of knowledge, and that no matter how good one’s current situation is, there is always room for improvement.

When full-time university isn’t an option, there are fortunately so many other opportunities for education.

Open University

Open universities offer the fantastic opportunity of being able to study part-time and obtain a qualification whilst maintaining a steady life at home and work. With The Open University, you are even able to work full-time and carry out studies on weekends. By using The Open University’s handy ‘finding time’ tool, users are able to select the days they are available to study, and the system will work around this, finding a course suitable to their needs. With some courses even being free, The Open University proves that there is still time to better ourselves no matter the age or situation.

Alison

Alison offers free interactive courses which users can complete through modules and exams online. Fast, easy to use, and with no cost, users are able to qualify for diplomas and more. A truly brilliant option for those who simply do not have the time to attend an open university at all, Alison can be used at home, on lunch hours or on the weekend, leading to qualification within months. Sadly Alison qualifications are not globally recognised as legitimate, but more appreciated as a means of learning and showing initiative towards the desired subject.

There are many other options when it comes to learning part-time or for little fees. For example, there are online writing courses, math courses, and many more that can be undertaken as a means to further your knowledge and show future employers that you’re proactive and willing to learn. Whether you’re 25 or 55, it’s never too late to further educate ourselves and live up to our full potential.

About the author

Having secured a creative writing place at Surrey University, Hannah’s inquisitive personality got the better of her as she was drawn towards an award-winning post-production company in the first working days of her life. The youngest of the Semple team, you could say that a realistic insight into the media industry moulded her into the confident, down-to-earth blondie she is today. A chocoholic, who was once known to pack 38 tops for 2 weeks in Fuerteventura, Hannah can often be found soaking up the latest health & beauty tutorials, partaking in retail therapy or enjoying some good Mexican food with friends. If there’s one thing you can be sure of, it’s that when the world beckons, Hannah will embrace it with arms wide open (and blog about it too!).
