After a rollercoaster ride in popular news so far this year it’s not surprising that Banksy has a lot of material for his new installation. Now of course Banksy being his usual self this is no ordinary art piece. This time around he’s bringing us Dismaland Bemusement Park; a dystopian theme park that comments on consumerism, politics and popular culture. Set in the derelict, seafront Tropicana of Weston-super-Mare not too far from Banksy’s roots in bustling Bristol, it’s the perfect location. Banksy himself told the Western Mercury “I loved the Tropicana as a kid, so getting to throw these doors open again is a real honour. I hope everyone from Weston will take the opportunity to once more stand in a puddle of murky water eating cold chips to the sound of crying children.”dismaland map

After a quiet few months from the man himself, it was rumoured he had something big up his paint stained sleeve and it’s beyond our wildest imagination. Full sized attractions offer an incredibly rare, fully subversive experience that should not be taken lightly. Dismaland is a chance to wander Banksy’s mind, climb aboard his thought process and scream to go faster!

Opening today for ‘locals only’ with general admissions tickets going on sale as of Saturday, it’s sure to be a big hit with sneak peek photos already circulating online. It’s nothing short of another incredible success for Banksy and everything he paints for. Running until September 27th there’s plenty of time to get down to the coast, with a special Friday night gig series including performances from Massive Attack and Pussy Riot, as well as a Comedy Night on 11th September with tickets from just £3.

From the dodgems hosted by the grim reaper, an abandoned Cinderella’s castle, and a distorted Ariel there’s so much to see that you couldn’t take it all in with just one visit. The devil is in the detail for Banksy and if we’ve come to learn anything it’s that he never misses a beat.
