Excited for the weekend? Me too, but it’s a bit of a bitter-sweet one. Despite the fact it’s going to be 25degrees and it’s a bank holiday (hello Monday morning sleep-in) it is the last one of the whole year! So we best make it a good one. Notting Hill Carnival
This had to be number 1 on my list, partly because I’m going but mostly because it’s so much FUN. Be sure to head down on Sunday’s family day to enjoy great music, better food and the most colourful street carnival around. FREE!
Camden Beach
Real sand, end-of-the-pier amusements, deckchairs, beach-huts, live music, food, drinks. What more could you want? Camden Roundhouse. FREE!
Amy Winehouse Exhibition
Saturday looks set to be a wash-out so if you want to do something indoors, why not head to the Amy Winehouse exhibition at the Jewish Museum in Camden. Amy’s family have given the Museum unprecedented access to Amy’s personal belongings, celebrating her passion for fashion, Sudoku, Snoopy, London and of course, music. – Tickets £7.50
Leeds/Reading Festival
If you haven’t got tickets, don’t worry the BBC will be showing live coverage all weekend. Set up your tent in your living room, put on your best floral tunic and wellies and enjoy the sounds of Eminem, Jake Bugg, Johnny Marr and many more.Eat Burgers
Burger mania has hit the UK and with two of the best burger restaurants opening in London this month there is no better time to get down there and try for yourself. Shake Shack and Five Guys, both in Covent Garden claim the best burger in town but be ready to queue. With lines to rival Alton Towers, you might be best trying these delicious joints instead: Elliots, Stoney Street; MEATLiqor, Wellbeck Street; Byron, Store Street; Patty and Bun, James Street.
