As each season comes back around, we are given a wealth of inspiration on the new trends and what we should be wearing. Of course, we do get the seasonal replications too: in spring and summer we can expect pastels and florals in abundance and entering into the colder seasons of autumn and winter, we see an array of darker berry tones and crushed velvet taking centre stage in our favourite high-street stores.

With news of snow laying up in the Pennines of Scotland over the weekend, we are finally waving goodbye to our Indian summer and welcoming the revival of cosy knitwear. If you fancy straying away from your ever reliable UGGs and burgundy-toned blouses this year, then here are three popular autumnal trends that you can try your hand at this season.

Pink

I must admit, I’m quite an advocate for this trend. Carrying on from its popularity during the summer months, blush pink is still having a bit of a moment. Whilst we associate autumn with deeper, earthier tones that resemble the changing colour of the leaves; pastels can work seamlessly into your wardrobe too. Team with marled greys and rich burgundies for a pop of colour during the inevitable cold and dreary days that lay ahead.

Leopard Print

Often a rather controversial trend that divides many a fashionista, leopard print has made a much anticipated return this season. While many may associate the popular animal print with Pat Butcher and Del Boy Trotter, in moderation, it can work really well. Opt for a more subtle version and don’t pair too much leopard print together as less is definitely more when it comes to this trend!

Embroidery

Again, we see a trend from the warmer summer months coming through and transitioning into the colder months for autumn and winter. Typically a trend associated with festivals and folk, many high-street stores have cottoned on to the popularity and adorned many an item in the prettiest of needle-work. From leather skirts to smart work shirts, you’re certainly spoilt for choice this season when it comes to embroidery and embellishment.
