Stoner Chic isn’t a new concept, but like every other fashion craze it comes and goes in various waves of popularity. As expected it’s most favourable in the heady days of summer, surrounded by your friends, feeling the love. And these days festivals are overrun by boutique stalls selling vintage and hippie inspired clothing. It may not be Woodstock but it’s all we’ve got!
From the comfy harem pant we so often see, to the Baja hoodie, the comfy attire is the ever increasing go to hangover ensemble. Ebay and Amazon are awash with stoner chic, but for the fashion conscious who thrive on labels where do they go? Lekr are a UK based company bringing what some call ‘drug rugs’ to the masses, but other more familiar brands such as Forever21 and Revolve Clothing are also bringing their take on the classics to the table.
As we already know the TV and film industry has a massive impact on fashion, and with every new ‘stoner flick’ we get another generation jumping on the bandwagon; from classics such as Cheech & Chong, to modern day legends Dale and Saul from Pineapple Express. But one things for sure, there’s always room for more and this August long time pals Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg are once again reunited on the cinematic screen for American Ultra, set to earn a place in the stoner’s hall of fame!
The key to pulling off such a world renowned fashion trend is to look as if you’ve made minimal effort, but without looking too dirty. It’s a very fine line indeed. So mess up that hair,embrace the earthy colours, and stick to natural blend materials to totally nail stoner chic in 2015!
