Spring Scents

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we opted for the rich and warming scents of cinnamon, orange, pine and bergamot. We wanted to feel cosy and festive, surrounded by wrapping paper, ribbon, a roaring fire and Christmas films.

With the spring months just around the corner and the promise of lighter evenings almost upon us, we are leaning more towards fresh, uplifting and lighter notes to sit on our desks and scent our days.

Candles have experienced a bit of a resurgence in recent years, with many of us adding them to our baskets for a monthly treat following pay-day. With some of the more popular choices boasting a price tag little below the £50 mark, it’s important you know what you’re buying – there’s nothing worse than investing in a beautifully scented candle which promises notes of fig or rose, to get it home and realise its scent, once lit, is somewhat scentless.

When we think of spring, it is the notes of citrus, cotton and early blooms that spring to mind. We want to enjoy a scent that will accompany us through the warmer days of the months to come – long days spent outside enjoying the sunshine and cooler evening spent dining alfresco with friends and family. The heavier, darker notes of pomegranate, fig and cassis are passed to the wayside and saved for the colder autumnal months, where our thoughts instinctively turn to winter walks and cosy evenings spent beside the fire.
