We all know that a girl can never have too many shoes. This is a fact and the male half of the population are just going to have to learn to accept it. Now whilst your shoe collection will never be truly complete, there are five key styles that we here at Maggie Semple Ltd believe make a really good basis. If you have these styles in your wardrobe you will always be prepared to put your best foot forward.

Ballet flats

We love heels but sometimes you need to be a little bit closer to earth. Running from meeting to meeting or shopping with the girls, these shoes are like a reliable old friend that you can always call on at a moment’s notice. They can immediately make a pair of skinny jeans look Parisian chic or dress down a girlie tea dress.

Red Court shoes

Court shoes are a working wardrobe essential. If you don’t own a pair then you have probably never worked in an office. Heeled red court shoes are the ultimate power shoe. Research shows that women in red shoes are seen as confident and that they feel more confident too. If you ever have a meeting that you are dreading or are catching up with an ex-boyfriend/frenemy then make sure you are armed with your red courts.

Sandals

Gladiators, nandals, toe posts; each spring/summer there is a sandal of choice. To stay ahead of the game make sure you get in early and snap them up before the sun even shows its face. Like a best friend these will always be there for you. Whether they are knee high, ankle, flat or heeled every girl has a pair of trusted black boots. Sometimes we neglect them, call them boring or ditch them for a pair of ridiculously high peep toes but we always come back to them in the end.

“Wow” Shoes

If you don’t have a pair of “wow” shoes in your collection, buy some immediately. These shoes make no sense in everyday life, but they are so beautiful you have to have them. You have nowhere to wear them and you have to build a whole outfit around them but you know that you need them in your life.

Once you have these five shoes in your wardrobe you know you can take whatever life throws at you and if in doubt you can always add to your collection. Some shoes are like old friends, but some shoes are like the boys your mother warned you about and we all know how hard they are to resist.
