White heels have long been associated with ‘Essex girls’ and have had a somewhat tacky image, but recently the fashion world seem to be warming to the idea, particularly this season where white in general is a massive trend. It is fairly easy to wear white; you can’t go far wrong with a cute, white lace dress or a great pair of white jeans, and thanks to some great designs this season, it is now just as easy to pull off white shoes. There are three key styles that I think have the best designs to choose from:

Strappy sandal

Whether you choose a flat or heeled sandal, white straps are a fantastic way to show off tanned feet, even if it is a fake tan and your feet are the only bit of skin on show at the moment! These strappy sandals from Zara are my ultimate shoe for this season; I am struggling to think of something that they wouldn’t look great with, from skirts and shorts to dresses and cropped jeans, from the office to the bar… Let’s just say that I am desperate to get my hands on a pair! If you are not so comfortable with the height of these spectacular heels, consider a pair of white gladiator style sandals like these from Dorothy Perkins.

Pointed toe

This style can be quite difficult to even imagine pulling off; the 80’s style point with the potentially tacky colour, but there is no need to fear the white pointed toe shoe! Unfortunately, this style of shoe is basically impossible to pull off without a heel, but there are some great options available, including these striking pair by Christian Louboutin. Watch out if you are a bigger-footed girl though as the point elongates the foot, so perhaps choose a higher stacked heel or a less fierce point, like these Marks and Spencers Limited Collection lovelies.

Wedge

Wedges are a failsafe spring/summer shoe and obviously white goes with every other colour, so they seem like the most obvious choice for this season. This spring/summer, the white wedge of choice is either chunky or quirky. These thick strapped, solid white wedged stunners from River Island would perfectly finish a nautical style outfit with a pair of Navy tailored shorts and a Breton striped tee. If you want to give the quirky wedges a try, look out for cut out details or Perspex, which is itself a shoe trend for this season, like these Versace studded strappy wedges. And let’s not forget the greatest thing about wedges – the comfort regardless of the height!

As you can see there are some gorgeous ways to wear white shoes this season without the trashy label that used to come with them.
