Last night I fully committed to a marathon of back to back romcoms, chocolate, and wine, and it was perfect! As much as we all love the summer, we have to admit that the darker nights and rainy days have their perks too. We get to stay in with a foolproof, valid excuse. So with my hair tied back, comfy clothes on and an endless supply of my favourite drinks and snacks at arms length, I slumped into a night on the sofa and some of my favourite rom-coms.

But if you need a little help deciding here are some of the best romcoms that Netflix has to offer to keep you company on those colder nights in…

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

”You sound like you’re from London.” I remember my friends and I saying that on the odd occasion for a lot longer than I care to admit. Humour, jealousy, love and sadness all packed up and decorated with Russell Brands face on the front cover. This is a laugh out loud film that will keep you entertained and also helps you find a new appreciation for Dracula inspired music. Hmmm.

Pretty Woman

When Richard Gere opens up the jewellery box and then closes it on her finger and it takes her by surprise and she subsequently makes the most amazing laughing sound. Best. Scene. Ever. I’ve probably watched this a hundred times and I still love it as much as the first, from the opening scene right through to the end. A must-see if you haven’t already and if you have, well, watch it again.

Obvious Child

Jenny Slate, who plays a comedian who gets dumped by her boyfriend that’s cheating on her with her best friend, says it how it is. With some laugh out loud moments and some difficult life decisions, this film is a good watch with an ‘awww’ ending.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Because most of us can relate to finding comfort in big knickers. A film that depicts the struggle of a woman at an age where society (and mum) tells us we should be married off and with child by now, but shows the reality of obtaining such milestones. A truly wonderful and memorable film with some of the best one-liners.

Norbit

They say opposites attract, but in this instance they couldn’t be more wrong. Norbit, played by Eddie Murphy, is a timid man that is controlled by his horrendous lady until he finally bucks up the courage to leave her and go after the girl of his dreams. The journey through is hilarious and will keep you laughing from beginning to end.
