Ask anyone what the five major fashion capitals in the world are and the answer you will most likely receive is: London, New York, Paris, Milan and Tokyo.

After experiencing the excitement of London Fashion Week, the Semple team were still craving their fix of international fashion so with Milan Fashion Week taking place we all took to the streets near the Duomo to capture Milan’s fashionistas.

Our favourite look of the day was found just as we were leaving the hustle and bustle of the city. Dressed in a laid back look, this girl combines the season’s military look with a glamorous, feminine edge. The kakhi green and the black leather detailing which creates a harsh, masculine look is softened by the pink across the body bag and the diamond drop earrings. This look is perfect for the changing seasons Milan is facing at the moment.

Whilst we had fun scouting out current fashion on the streets of Milan, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the exciting array of Spring Summer looks that were being paraded down the catwalk. Fuchsia, silver, cerulean and black were the hot colours of the season with many designers incorporating garments dyed in this delightful spectrum of colours into their collections.

Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection took it’s inspiration from the underwater world. Anenomes and sea foam were recreated in the form of beaded dresses covered in rich, iridescent organza this was contrasted with the heavy applique which featured on a number of garments in the show creating the impression of barnacles encrusted on the bodies of the models. This was a true spectacle and has definitely got us excited for next season.

Gucci were all about the colour play in their collection featuring beautifully tailored trouser suits in an array of bold colours. Our favourite piece from the collection is a fuchsia trouser suit that combines billowing palazzo pant with a minimal tailored jacket which has been cinched in at the waist by a fuchsia fabric belt. It immediately defines the feminine silhouette and celebrates the female form. Another winning collection from the old Italian master.

Moschino took a playful approach for Spring/Summer 2013 incorporating a strong 60’s influence taken from the Audrey Hepburn film, Two For The Road. Our favourite look is almost equestrian in appearance with the model wearing what looks like a riding helmet crossed with a pith helmet. The rest of the look is monochrome elegance with a youthfully tailored dress suit and a liz tailor inspired bag. What more can a girl want?
