Open to the public for the first time in 2006, Mayfield Lavender is a 25 acre organic lavender farm offering a beautiful and often much needed escape from the bustling centre of London. The fields which can be found in Banstead, South London, were planted in 2002 to revive and honour the Victorian heritage of its site, when a thriving lavender industry would have been found there.

The farm is the perfect place to lose yourself for a few hours this summer, to wander amongst the endless fields of lavender and enjoy an afternoon tea in their al fresco café. The fields are in full, violet bloom from the end of June to the end of August – with family friendly Tractor Tours to entertain the kids in the holidays, or early evening BBQs with a chilled glass of wine making for the perfect catch up excuse with friends.
The Lavender Nursery is where you’ll find beautiful homewares, toiletries and bunches of lavender to take home and enjoy, long after you’ve left the farm. However lavender isn’t the only thing you’ll find at the farm as the buzzing bees, butterflies, pheasants and even a family of kestrels have also made the farm their home.
Mayfield Lavender is much more than just an Instagram-worthy hashtag, make no mistake the breathtaking beauty of the farm will of course finds it’s place on your social media feed but it’s the organic farming practices at Mayfield that they are the most proud of, and for good reason! Their dedicated team tend to the field by hand, tirelessly weeding without the use of fertilisers or pesticides. It’s a true labour of love that can be felt throughout the farm.
