I’m starting to get a little lazier now with my make-up routine, although I shouldn’t because there are so many great products on the market for completely different looks. Trying them all out and having huge make-up faux pas until you find the right one, on the other hand, is not as fun. It can be time consuming and leave you with an empty pocket.

So as not to waste any more time, here are a few products, tips and tricks to get you one step ahead of the game:

The Beauty Blender

Classic single pink, £16, Beautyblender

This little bundle of joy will save you time yet give you a much more smooth and flawless look. The Beautyblender was a hidden secret for a while, MUA’s to the celebrities have been using them for a long time, but now they are so easily available and, considering how long they last, reasonably priced.

To use your Beautyblender you first dampen the sponge and lightly squeeze away any excess water. You can use your foundation, powder or cream with the Beautyblender by then dipping it into the product and applying to your face. The results: an air-brush finish.

High Beam

High Beam, £19.50, Benefit

Skip the concealer and go straight for your highlighter. If you’ve pressed snooze too many times and you are now running half-an-hour late with only minutes to get ready, going straight for your highlighter will save you time and still give you a similar look.

Highlighting around the eyes not only brightens tired looking eyes, but also hides dark circles. Benefit’s high beam is their top seller for a reason; it can be lightly used all over the face or use it to just concentrate on certain areas, like your brow bones for that healthy glow.

BB Cream

The body shop bb cream

All-in-one cream, £12, The Body Shop

Understanding your skin type and the best products for you is going to give you the best results. Wearing a heavy coverage foundation when you really don’t need to is a waste of your money and time. For light coverage The Body Shop have one of the best BB creams on the market. BB cream is a cream with a hint of make-up for a light coverage. This is perfect for those looking to add a hint of colour and hide any blemishes while still having the benefits of a daily moisturiser.

Double Wear Foundation

Double Wear, £30, Estée Lauder

If you would like a heavier and fuller coverage, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in place foundation comes highly recommended. You apply once in the morning and it really does last you throughout the day and evening. There is no need to run to the bathroom to touch-up, or worry about the foundation clogging. Although it is a heavier foundation, with the right shade, it still has a very natural finish.

Vaseline

Rosy Lips, £1.30, Boots

You probably have a bunch of these around your room, one left in last year’s winter jacket pocket, or maybe you are an avid user already. This is an all-purpose product. Smother it on you lashes before bed (being careful not to put any in your eyes) for fuller lashes, or use it in the day on your eyelids for a natural shine to brighten up your face. It’s great for taking some of the pain away when plucking your eyebrows, by placing a little over the brow area it also helps to highlight any hidden hairs. Quite simply it’s the perfect beauty product for day-to-day use.
