I think it’s safe to say that we’re a country of loungers, our almighty God declared Sunday a day of rest and who are we to argue? As the cooler nights draw in and we’re cast into darkness by 4pm there really is nothing better thank kicking back and relaxing in the comfort and warmth of your living room, swaddled in blankets with the remote (and crisps) never far from hand.
Yet whilst we may well be partial to a horizontal disposition that does not mean, in any way shape or form, that we shall be doing so in a frightful slob getup. In much the same way that the humble trainer has replaced high heels becoming the go-to shoe of choice, lounge wear is snuggling it’s way into our wardrobes one oversized cashmere sweater at a time and I for one am overindulging in this super cosy trend.
Knitted tracksuits
No matter what your age there has often been a tracksuit of choice; from the garish shell suits of the 80s to to the traditional Adidas three stripe, and don’t even get us started on the cringeworthy velour movement. But today’s tracksuit is knitted, shapely and luxe. Go all out with cashmere luxury or visit ASOS for a much more affordable option.
Silk pyjamas
Ok so we may be minus a grotto and a trusty sailor hat but that’s no reason to deny ourselves a pair of sumptuous silk/satin pjs. Release your inner Hugh Hefner and adopt the luxurious lounge wear from the moment you get in the door. Throw in a faux fur blanket and glass of mulled wine and feel your troubles just float away.
Cashmere coverups
No luxury loungewear splurge is complete without a hint of cashmere. The ultimate in lounge decadence, a cashmere coverup is a must! Choose from oversized roll necks, luxurious ribbed tees or team a simple crew neck sweater with your favourite pyjama bottoms.
Shawls, blankets and everything else!
Whether it’s a lavish soft shawl draped over bare shoulders or a faux fur blanket tucked around toasty toes the last lesson in loungewear is definitely accessorising. Treat yourself to furry boot slippers, faux fur gilets, knitted hot water bottles and…relax.
