To ease the pain of the imminent changes being made to The Great British Bake Off we came to know and love, a pop-up bake off experience has made its way to Tooting. The Big London Bake offers fans of the show the chance to step into the infamous tent and feel the heat of the competition. Pairs will go head to head in a 90 minute baking challenge, putting their skills and their relationships to the ultimate test.

In recent years Britain’s pop-up culture has been at an all time high, with independent retailers and their consumers understanding not only the attractive novelty of a concept such as this one, but also the potential economic success too. Visitors to a pop-up are offered a unique experience, whilst producers can reach an audience without investing in a permanent commercial space.

The Big London Bake looks set to make a storm on social media, with previous contestant Rav Bansal even hinting at attending. Unfortunately there is no news yet of either Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood making an appearance, but a professional baker will be on hand to offer the bakers some handy tips and eventually judge each team’s efforts to announce the winning duo!

From the humble genoise to the complex macaron, bakers will get the chance to try their hand at some of Britain’s favourite bakes. The producer’s boast that no experience is necessary – detailed instructions, the ingredients and the tools of the trade are all included, so even if you’re no Candice Brown you can don the baking apron and give it your best shot!

So if you fancy getting your hands on the (metaphorical) crown and earning some bragging rights then grab a friend or maybe even a date and book your tickets now while they’re still available, this is sure to be a popular event for 2017 and especially the summer months!
