When Kate Middleton stepped out in a pale blue Jenny Packham polka dot dress to debut our one day Prince, the Duchess set the wheels in motion for a serious a trend revival. Following in her late Mother-In-Laws footsteps, The Duchess of Cambridge chose a loose fitting dotty cotton dress to greet the eagerly awaiting public; many of whom camped out to get the first glimpse of the Royal baby; George Alexander Louis, who gave us all his very first Royal wave to christen the occasion.
It wasnt just Will and Kate who received the royal treatment though. Jenny Packham’s website crashed yesterday under the immense weight of excessive traffic from those desperate for get their hands on the designers polka dot creation. But those who rushed online to buy their very own piece of Royal history were to be left disappointed; the dress was a private commission for The Duchess and is not available to purchase.
One question that hangs in the balance though is, was that polka dot dress a very clever PR stunt, or was it, more simply, a nostalgic nod of respect to a Lady who adored her sons, her nation and would have no doubt adored her first born grandson?
