Swedish innovation and design is increasingly popular around the world, due mostly to its simplistic and often effective design. Our homes, cafes and offices are all by-products of Swedish design sporting exposed wood, clean cut lines and minimalist detailing, and now the signature that we have come to know and love is starting to make its way into many other aspects of our everyday lives. Humble Brush is just one of the newest and most unique Swedish designed products at the moment.
The idea? Take one of the most land-filled household products and produce a version that takes sustainability, community and health into account.
The handle is made of 100% biodegradable bamboo and the bristles are made of nylon, which may seem like a contradiction to the brand, however dentist and founder of Humble Brush Noel Abdayem, knew that the brush had to offer the same oral health as its plastic rivals. “After extensive testing and prototypes, using a more degradable nylon was the only answer. All our products therefore use Nylon 6 which degrades faster than lower grades of nylon.”
Not only is the brush better for the environment, but taking care of communities is also at the heart of this project – walking in the footsteps of companies such as Toms, for every brush that is purchased Humble Brush will provide a toothbrush to a child in need of oral health care.
“Many kids throughout the world have no means to care for their oral health. The dental clinic is too far away. They don’t have fluoride and they don’t have a toothbrush. The result is often chronic pain, tooth loss, missing school, disability and impaired psychological and physical development.” – www.humblesmile.org
