Holly Fulton at London Fashion Week

Summer may seem like a distant memory but Holly Fulton’s SS12 collection transports you right into the heart of British seaside glamour. Exhibited in Somerset House during London Fashion Week, Holly Fulton’s collection has been designed for the free spirited, individual woman who in Holly’s words ‘has blown her annual salary and in full holiday spirit, dressed for Vegas, has ventured to Margate’ for her holidays. Holly Fulton has brought luxury to Britain’s coastline in a celebration of colour, attention to detail and texture.

SS12 is centred around garments in soft whimsical pastel colours mixed with art deco patterns in addition to prints and embellishments layered together giving the appearance of seaside souvenirs. Handbags have been inspired by old arcade machines and luckily for the owner, Holly has sneakily designed them large enough to hold the winnings in case luck is on their side. The seaside theme was also carried through to the array of geometric, jewellery on show, reminiscent of mystic ocean treasures with shell like beads decorating the edges of bold statement pendants and coral coloured gems protruding off silver arm cuffs.

Holly’s bold aesthetic, frivolous collection subjects and her tongue in cheek manner have brought her national acclaim. She has already won Scotland’s Designer of the Year award for ’09 and ’10 in addition to the prestigious Swarovski Emerging Talent award and the future still looks bright for her.

With Holly’s SS12 collection bursting with so much optimism, beauty and style, our summer wardrobes look set to be filled with many an art deco inspired garment in varying pastel shades. Never before has the British seaside appeared so chic.
