It’s been a busy year for the world of fashion, filled with high heels and lower than average hemlines. For some people 2013 has been their fashion year to shine.  Semple takes a look at the girls who’ve been pushing our fashion buttons this year.

Cara Delevingne

I think it’s safe to say that 2013 has been the year of Cara Delevingne. Cara’s older sister Poppy has been in the limelight for a few years now but as Cara started appearing on the fashion scene the world fell in love with her fun photos, urban vibe and, most importantly, her eyebrows. Aged just 21 and signed to Storm Model Management, Cara has stomped the runways of Moschino, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi to name but a few. And it’s not just on the catwalk that she is making waves; Cara’s laidback, quirky, off-duty style has caught the eye of fans and imitators the world over, with hardcore fans travelling from near and far just to catch a glimpse of her. A pioneer of the “selfie”, you can get your Delevingne fix from just about any social network.

Jennifer Lawrence

Don’t you just love a Hollywood movie star who also seems to be refreshingly human too? Jennifer has been on the radar since her role in “Winter’s Bone” in 2010 but this year it is her red carpet glamour and down to earth attitude that has caught the fashion world’s attention. With the second instalment of “The Hunger Games” in cinemas now and having won an Oscar for her performance in “Silver Linings Playbook”, her star can only be set to continue rising and we shall definitely be looking out for her red carpet looks come 2014. Taking a tumble on her way to collect her award only cemented her place further in our hearts; move over Jennifer Aniston there is a new actress we want to be best friends with.

Made in Chelsea Girls

Us Semple girls are obsessed with Made in Chelsea. We don’t watch it for the cat fights or love triangles or even to count the number of times Spencer has cheated on his girlfriends, we watch it for the fashion. Love them or loathe them, there is no denying that the Chelsea girls have got style. Whether they are dressing up for the polo or wrapping up for a Sunday walk with their teeny, tiny dogs, they are a living, breathing showcase of all the latest designers and trends. So stop feeling guilty about watching trash TV and do your fashion homework.

2013 has been the year of accessible fashion; from street style blogs to fashion stars on Instagram, you can get your fashion fix from anywhere at any time of day.  So start strutting your fashion stuff because next year’s fashion moment could be you.
