Okay, okay we know that now we finally have some sunshine we don’t even want to think about packing away our summer clothes, but thoughts in the fashion world are already turning autumnal. If you want to stay ahead of the fashion game then you need to start working in the autumn trends now.

Mannish Shoes

The fashion world is taking a manly step away from killer heels this coming season; brogues, slippers, monk straps, as long as it is androgynous it is your new shoe best friend. Wear now with cute socks and sundresses and swap for slim fit trousers and feminine blouses come autumn.

Pretty pastels

Pastels shades are normally confined to the back of the closet when the nights start drawing in but mint, baby pink, blue and lilac were all spotted on the autumn/winter runways this year. Pastels shades are a perfect trend to embrace now and can be paired with woollen tights and knitwear for a cute autumn look.

Chunky Knits

If there is one thing we look forward to about the colder weather it is the opportunity to stock up on a chunky knit or two!  The autumn favourite will work now as the perfect cover up for BBQ’s that last beyond sun down.  Buy in bright neon shades like hot pink and acid yellow to be layered up over crisp white shirts and skinny jeans.

Layer it up

When it comes to dressing we think we can all agree that Brit girls are the queens of layering. However the AW13 catwalks took this to a new extreme by layering up different skirt styles to create unique and interesting silhouettes. A difficult trend to negotiate without looking like your mad aunt Mabel so approach with extreme caution; the rest of your look should be unfussy and streamlined but if in any doubt walk away and leave to the hardcore fashionistas.

The perfect coat

Yes we know it is still too hot for even a light denim jacket but believe us when we say now is the time to start thinking about your perfect winter coat. Buy now or be prepared to hear “we told you so” when all the good ones are gone. Invest now and leave untouched in your wardrobe and you will be the envy of all your unprepared friends when they are trawling the rails for a coat to keep out the rain. Choose from mannish blazers, oversized cocoon coats or our personal favourite; contrast sleeves with an a-line shape.

You may want to dismiss us and shake away thoughts of cold weather and covered up clothes but come autumn when you are skipping stylishly over puddles you’ll know who to thank.
