No sooner than you have finished curating your perfect summer wardrobe then the fickle British summer decides to give us an early autumn. Hours of planning and careful shopping wasted! Don’t despair just yet; Semple has got some styling tricks to help you make your key summer purchases last that little bit longer.
The Sundress
The weatherman may be promising us an Indian summer but even if the sun doesn’t put its hat back on you can still get a few more wears out of the sundress you lusted after for so long. Autumn’s chunky knitwear looks uber girly layered over pretty floral dresses and knitted tights and boots can take you micro dress from picnic to pub lunch.
Sandals
Sandals of all shapes and sizes have been having a moment this summer from Birkenstocks and cut-outs to slides and chunky heels but none were fit to survive the August downpours. To get some more mileage out of your sandals, make like the fashion crowd and team with socks. It might be breaking all previous fashion rules but suddenly socks and sandals are the only way to keep your feet chic through the brisk autumn months.
T Shirts
For years t shirts have been relegated to the fashion wasteland, only to be worn on lazy days and Sundays but their recent fashion makeover has made them lust-haves once again. Luckily, t shirts are the perfect companion to two of autumn’s key trends; cape coats and blanket scarves.
Kimonos
With their carefree attitude and bright floral prints, kimonos might not seem like the obvious choice for autumn but the luxurious silky fabrics can be the perfect cover-up for an evening out in autumn. Don’t pack them away just yet but instead layer them over jeans and a cami and add killer heels for drinks with the girls.
