No matter how much research we do prior to our holidays, we are always somewhat apprehensive as to what to expect. Spending hours reading positive reviews about your hotel on Trip Advisor isn’t always a guarantee that it will be the luxury you are expecting. The journey from the airport to your hotel is full of the dreaded thoughts of “I really hope that one isn’t ours” as you approach the dreary, run down looking places.

Thankfully this was not the case on my recent trip to Albufeira, Portugal as we drove through the beautiful old fashioned streets of The Algarve, I instantly fell in love. We arrived at our hotel to find that it was luxurious, peaceful and just perfect. Having spent the first few hours of our holiday trying to figure out how to work our new GoPro which turned out to be our best friend for the week, we finally managed to go and explore.

With the sun beaming down constantly, we were never short of things to do. Nearby were many beautiful beaches and marina’s that we found ourselves exploring everyday, soaking up the sun on the sand before riding the almighty waves on our jet ski. Despite feeling as though I was about to fly off and into the sea, the speed of the jet ski and the height of the waves was terrifyingly exhilarating!

After days of putting it off, my boyfriend finally persuaded me to pluck up the courage to go parasailing. Despite having a terrible fear or water, I figured that I wouldn’t let this get in the way. Gliding through the sky in the summer sun, taking in all of the incredible views before slowly drifting back on to the boat was undoubtedly the best experience of my life.

With the old town and the new both very close by, we were spoilt for choice as the evening’s drew in. The new town offered us a lively strip with multiple clubs and lively bars, whilst the old town was very relaxed with quiet bars and lovely restaurants.

Overall the beautiful town of Albufeira provided us with the perfect holiday; jam packed with fun activities that I never imaged myself doing, whilst still finding time for some much needed rest and relaxation.
