Gossip Girl

Blair Waldorf once said “Fashion is the most powerful art there is” and she was just as right then as she is now. Fast forward some ten years and today, a whole decade on, we still find Waldorf’s words ringing true.

From plaid and pussy bows to sequins and lace the Upper East Siders took their wardrobes seriously, opting for bold and out there combinations that inspired a generation of fans worldwide.

So to pay homage to the art that Gossip Girl first gave us and to celebrate 10 years since Blair and Serena dominated our screens we have put together our all-time favourite Gossip Girl looks.

Blair might have been a scheming temptress but her wardrobe was always on point. With more outfit changes than anyone Queen B taught us all about the power of accessories; whether it was her bold jazz stocking or cutesy over the knee socks, pussy bow blouses, lace gloves or her signature headbands, Blair nailed the preppy look time and time again. But B’s true magic was in her ability to go from good girl next door to sultry seductress in the pop of a button.

Little Jenny Humphreys started out as the sweet and innocent little sister to ‘Lonely Boy’ Dan Humphreys. Little J was all poor and puppy eyed as she waited on Blair, hand and foot, that was until she paved her way into the fashion realm and right to the helm of the It crowd, leaving behind her preppy plaid in favour of fishnets, leathers and a smokey eye.

Nonchalant and effortlessly boho, Serena Van Der Woodsen had us all swooning since the series pilot. With legs that seemed to go on for days, her go-to uniform of choice was a mini dress and killer heels. But nothing had us in awe quite like the canary yellow plunging Ralph Lauren gown she wore for her mum’s wedding to Bart Bass.

About the author

At 5ft 1 (and a half) Sophie may be small but she is certainly fierce. After finding out she was dyslexic at the age of seven she made it her life’s mission to wage a war against words and carve a career out of a craft she admired so much. Hard work, determination and a lot of journals later, Sophie graduated with a degree in journalism. Her obsession and love for the written word has seen her as Editor at Semple to now blogging her way around the world. She’s irrationally angry, partial to a LARGE glass of chardonnay and has an intolerance for most people.
