With summer hot on our heels it’s time to shape up and shake off our winter blues. The promise of hazy, warm days is just around the corner with thanks to our longer and lighter evenings, so a dash for the must-have summer accessories is on!

As we reach for our ripped jeans and Havaianas we’re struck with the realisation that last season’s sunglasses are either long lost or a little worse for wear. I can’t tell you how many pairs of sunglasses I’ve lost and broken over the years, but I’d go as far as to say that I could have probably opened up my own high street store by now. So if like me you’re a little haphazard when it comes to sunnies then you too won’t want to splash out on a pair that will soon be of no use!

raybans

I’m forever searching for a cheaper alternative to the ever popular RayBans that will still look great and more importantly protect my eyes. So I thought I’d share some of my affordable top picks for my fellow useless sunglass owners…

hawkers

Carbon Black Sky One | Hawkers

Much like the shape of the popular Wayfarer the Hawkers’ Sky One is a solid black frame, wrapped around electric blue lenses. The black-out logo on the arms is classy and timeless and the bold frame gives extra durability for those who do not favour a dainty lifestyle. Hawkers are lovingly handmade and offer 100% UV protection for only £19.

quay

Gemini Black | Quay Australia

An independent brand favoured by a number of A listers from Gigi Hadid to Ruby Rose, sans the celebrity price tag! The Gemini frame is robust yet sleek, with stainless steel hinges that’ll last longer than most. Their unique pink lenses don’t just look great, they’re of fantastic quality also offering 100% UV protection. The style originates from a blend of aviator and cat eye shaped predecessors, framing your face in a feminine yet modular way. At a little over £30 these are a great investment for holiday makers and posers alike.

wolfnoir

Akela Gold Braum | Wolf Noir

The most delicate of my sunglass selection the Akelas are best used for specific events, think summer weddings and Royal Ascot. They may be lightweight but their polarised lenses include an anti-scratch technology that’ll come in handy when you’ve had one too many Pimms. At just over £20 these won’t break the bank, whilst still giving you a timeless look.
