I think it’s fair to say that winter is finally on its way. As we see the first morning frosts lay on the cars and the temperature slowly drop down to single figures, not to mention the ever encroaching dark evenings, old Jack Frost is just around the corner. Although a time of bitter cold and little light, we can also look forward to weekend winter walks followed by delicious Sunday lunches and the start of the Christmas markets with mulled wine and hot chocolate in abundance. It’s a time to start planning those Christmas gifts and late night shopping trips, watching the colourful festive light switch-on and braving the ice for a spot of, no doubt, wobbly ice-skating.

It’s chilly yes, but that doesn’t mean we have to spend the next few months curled up on the sofa – although that does sound rather tempting too. With many festivities to look forward to, it’s time to brave the cold, wrap up warm and embrace the Great British winter.

And If you’re anything like me, one coat doesn’t always suffice because when the temperature drops and you can’t leave the house without a warm coat, this becomes your outfit, the key piece that stands out and makes a statement. Sure, you can opt for a smart black coat but sometimes a little pop of colour and a clean cut goes a very long way.
