From across the pond for this week’s style diary we have Malibu Mara. A fashionable girl living in Houston creating young and edgy looks that carry her from a corporate job to weekends and everything in-between. Starting Monday right, Mara wears a grey body con dress and simple black stiletto sandals. They form the classic, feminine and formal work attire, suitable for any office. The ruches feature along the side of the dress accentuate Mara’s curves and nips in at her slim waist – just the right amount of detail to keep this dress looking elegant.

Meet Malibu Mara

What do you do when your not blogging?
I love to cook. I spend time with friends or just have a little downtime.

What interests you?

I love music and learning new things. I like seeing what’s new and what’s next or trying to reinvent the wheel. I always want to learn more.

What is your motivation everyday?
I want to be the best version of myself everyday. I make a to do list everyday to help me through the day and to keep me from getting overwhelmed.

Do you have a treasured garment?
I do but it’s nothing I wear. It is a t-shirt from Marc Jacobs BUT it is autographed by him. I won a random contest and he mailed it to me. I died!

What is your best style advice?
Dress how you want to be addressed.

Who is your style inspiration?
I don’t really look to other people for style but I take notes from general street style. I have random muses for a moment and then I get over it, right now I really like Miroslava Duma.

Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
I hope to be further along in my career. I just want to be comfortable. I graduated college about 2 years ago and I’m just wading along trying to get a grip on being an adult.

What is your biggest highlight in your career to date?
In my day job, I like the feeling of accomplishing a season. I work in logo apparel buying and curating collections is really fun for me. I like getting positive feedback after I finalise them.

Which trends will make a return next season?

I don’t think prints are going anywhere. There is a big trend of sportswear inspired apparel, I

keep seeing leather insets and mock jersey styles. I’m over the sportswear thing, but I will always love prints.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I want to inspire people. I somehow want to leave my mark but I’m still a work in progress. I just want to be a good role model and be known for good advice and success.
