MSL introduce to you a week of style from The Wardrobe Angel, aka Stephanie Roper. Todays style diary sees Stephanie go for a ‘dressed down look’, which is perfect for a Monday morning. It’s full of character and individuality. Her jeweled necklace and metallic silver stiletto shoes spice up her black skinny jeans and her zebra print jumper, along with her bold red lipstick, which brings her outfit to life. Overall, her outfit will ensure that all heads will turn her way with style envy when she enters a room.

What do you do?

The Wardrobe Angel = wardrobe therapy! I style, declutter and re-organise wardrobes in a way that is cost effective to clients. I write for a couple of online magazines (Earth, Wit and Style and Egg Mag), give talks to networking groups and women’s groups including the WI (Women’s Institute), all whilst blogging, tweeting and getting image happy on Pinterest.

As one of the founding organisers of Swish Leeds I am also a swishing and clothes swap expert and am passionate about keeping clothes out of landfill and extending their life by showing people how to get more wear out of what they already own. I recently appeared on an ITV Tonight Special called Throwaway Britain in which I showed participants how to have a clothes swap and up-cycle their clothes.

What are your interests?

Aside from wardrobes I love running (currently training for my third half marathon), reading autobiographies, drinking huge swathes of tea, and finding the perfect pork pie.

What motivates you every day?

My business. After rapidly downsizing my own wardrobe I realised why lots of wardrobes don’t work and it gave me the idea for The Wardrobe Angel: building and maintaining wardrobes which are wearable and workable with no loss in individuality.

Do you have a treasured garment, an item that you cannot part with?

My vintage kimono jacket. I bought it in 2006 for £50 from Beyond Retro in London. It goes over everything – I have even worn it on the beach! – and I always get complimented on it whenever I wear it. It’s a truly unique piece and I love it.

What style advice would you give?

Know yourself. Trust your gut. Use trends as a barometer for your own style – you don’t have to buy into everything out there – stick to the things you love.

Whose wardrobe would you like to steal for a day?

Jenna Lyons from JCrew. I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to her style. She brings it like no other.

Where do you see yourself in ten years time?

Successful author, TV and Radio presenter.

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

Professionally – My business The Wardrobe Angel. Personally – completing the Manchester marathon in 2012 and becoming an auntie to two adorable and fabulously cool nephews.

Which trend do you see making a return for 2014?

With the demise of bodycon, a return to volume.

What would you like to be remembered for?

For showing women how to achieve wearable, workable wardrobes that are suited to their budget, lifestyle and style.
