The September issue is the holy grail in fashion editorial, highly anticipated for its unveiling of all new AW lines and that very certain someone that has the honour of gracing its cover.It is an institution in its own right. So much so that the word Vogue i.e. the magazine it is referring to, needn’t even be mentioned. The prestigious issue has become synonymous with the brand and it never fails to disappoint, getting bigger, better, and glossier each year.

At 462 pages the 2014 British Vogue September issue is the biggest the magazine has ever published. And who better to front the acclaimed issue than Cara Delevingne – British supermodel extraordinaire, who in the last twelve months has taken the fashion world by storm with her trademark brows and quirky persona. Shot by none other than Mario Testino, Cara radiates from the cover in new-season Louis Vuitton neutrals.

“With more fashion shoots than ever before – the September issue brings all of the AW14 collections to the fore for the first time, making us almost wish for the first leaf to fall (or at least start to prepare sartorially for when it does),” said British Vogue on the issue launch.

Miss Delevingne is also causing a splash across the pound as she fronts the equally anticipated US September issue alongside Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss. Dubbed “The Instagirls” for their ability to self promote their supermodel status via social media, this generations ‘it’ girls are “the models of the moment wearing the clothes of the season,” says US Vogue.

The 856 spectacular has long been famed in the US for its iconic status, even warranting its very own documentary taking a closer look at the inner workings of Anna Wintour and Creative Director, Grace Coddington, in the run up to the 2007 September issue. And it’s safe to say after the 2014 instalment that Vogue, Anna, and the issue so no signs of slowing.
