If you’re hooked on Twitter as I am then you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. For those uninitiated, the title quote does not refer to the 1967 pop song by Cat Stevens, but in fact a recent tweet from Supermodel Coco Rocha who followed in the footsteps of Beyonce this week and joined the pixie crew. Live tweeting her haircut with Allure magazine, Coco’s new crop is all the confirmation we needed that short hair is back!

Dating all the way back to Mia Farrow, we’ve seen some stunning pixie crops crop up (pun very much intended) over the years, um, hello Sienna circa 2006! With Miley Cyrus and Rihanna getting the chop more recently my suspicions of the trend were being aroused, however it was last week when Beyonce unveiled her new look  that we really knew it was going to hit the mainstream.

I’ve been toying with the idea of a short cut for around 5 years and the furthest I’ve got is about 4 inches (pathetic I know) but if you feel braver than I, now is the time to go for it.

A softer chop, like the classic Sienna crop, is probably the best choice if your not looking to appear too edgy. Floral headbands and garlands are a great way to soften the cut too. Alternatively, following Cocos style would work best for those looking to keep a little length. The ‘Tilda’ fringe will allow you to play with the shape while still staying on trend.

Now excuse me while I go and spend an hour pinning up my hair, just to see.
