MSL attend WEConnect in Heidelberg

Two weeks ago, MSL’s Brand Manager and Commercial Manager attended the latest WEConnect International event, which was held in the Heidelberg Marriott Hotel. The event was an introductory session for female business owners who own 51% or more of their company to network, be inspired by each others successes, and to hear from their corporate member, Marriott International, about the opportunities of working alongside them in the future.

WEConnect International is a non-profit organisation which brings together multinational companies and government departments who believe in the benefits of diverse supply chains. Their Corporate Membership scheme and their global networking events are extremely beneficial as they offer women business owners the chance to establish future working relationships and possible contracts with conglomerate firms and with each other.

Maggie Semple Limited was the only UK based company present at the event, and the team felt very honoured to be able to listen to the other business women present their companies to the room. Their businesses ranged from selling biscuits and cake products, to a superfood juice range and cosmetic line, a language translation service and a protective clothing line for the medical and hospitality industries. MSL also admired a product made by the company, DERGUGL, who took the original gugelhopf German brunt cake, and modernised it by creating new flavours and producing them in miniature size.

It was also very pleasing to hear how dedicated Marriott is to ensuring they source their products from a diverse range of suppliers, and when they can, to make their products as environmentally friendly and recyclable as possible; an ethos which is very much inline with MSL. The Semple team really enjoyed presenting the business and our values to the room and our products and business story were well received. While we are always happy to hear this in the UK, it is really important to us that we continue to build on our global readership, and this WEConnect event allowed us to do this.

Our event experience provided us with the perfect opportunity to network with likeminded passionate women and explore further business ventures. I would personally like to thank the organisers of the event and Marriott Hotels, for their luxurious meeting room environment, and for providing such delicious food!
