I love having fun with my makeup, experimenting with different textures and shades is what it should be all about. And this week I discovered a range that really embodies this ethos.

Majenta Beauty is a mother and daughter collaboration that’s been catching the attention of both beauty aficionados and those of us who just want something a little bit different, and is looking set to go places. Oxford-based Jayne Lyons launched the brand, drawing upon her many years of experience within the beauty industry to come up with a range of quality products, which are not only affordable, but offer a myriad of colours. In 2013, daughter LJ came on board, and between them they have been working hard and getting noticed by industry insiders.

And it’s easy for me to see why. I tried a couple of their products, with the aim of getting out of my beauty rut. I’m a die-hard fan of my beloved smoky eyes and nude lips, and it takes a lot for me to be led away from my long time failsafe look. But I managed to prise myself away from my comfort zone long enough to try out a new eyeshadow duo and lipstick combination.

I tried a set of Majenta’s pearled eye colours in Lazy Days and Moon Walk. The quality of the products is immediately obvious. They are highly pigmented, meaning you only need a small amount to create a strong effect and with the powders triple milled for an extra fine consistency, they blend beautifully. Lazy Days was perfect for an all over wash, a lovely pinky-beige with a subtle sheen, the ideal base to work with. I added Moon Walk to the outer corners and socket. This aqua blue has shimmery iridescent glints, creating a playful look which made my blue eyes really pop.

I teamed this look with Majenta’s matte Pink Lady lip colour. This was a lovely, rich candy pink, which glided on smoothly and felt luxuriously creamy on the lips. Whilst I paired it with the eyeshadow for a fun look, it would be equally well accompanied by just a slick of liquid eyeliner for a more sophisticated look, putting all the emphasis on vibrant lips for a real statement on a night out.

One of the best things about Majenta is the price – no product will set you back more than £17.10, with most items under a tenner. So you really can afford to experiment, without compromising on quality. Take a look at the range yourself at www.majentabeauty.com.
