Lingerie is the most intimate of the fashion choices we make. It should make us feel special, feminine, beautiful. Enter Flimsymoon, an up-and-coming range of luxury pieces which captures the very essence of all that is womanly, a collection so exquisite that it seems a crying shame to have to keep it under wraps.

Freyia Porteous is the exciting talent behind the designs. Having graduated from the Manchester Metropolitan University’s Embroidery Degree course, she has put her gifted hands to good use in creating a range of delicate pieces, which are lovingly and intricately embroidered or screen printed. Silver and gold sequins, pearls, beads and feathers combine with silky nudes, conjuring an aesthetic which is ethereal, luxurious and dramatic. Freyia’s love of the arts – the ballet, poetry and the romantic heroines of stage and screen – is immediately apparent as her inspiration, and has been channelled into a collection which explores a dichotomy between nymph-like innocence and tantalising sensuality.

Flimsymoon looks certain to be a well-known high-end lingerie brand of the future. Brides-to-be will lust after the range, as will any woman looking for something that bit special. But this is not just a range for the odd occasion – Freyia believes that lingerie should be comfortable, adapting to the female form, not stifling it in restrictive constructions. Every piece is soft and tactile, designed to drape upon the skin effortlessly.

Freyia is currently working on her first full collection, Kiss me under flimsymoon, with the backing of Kickstarter, a crowd funding organisation for arts ventures. The campaign will provide the capital to produce final samples for promotion to independent boutiques looking to stock the brand.

The Kickstarter launch takes place on Saturday 30th August, 7pm-12am at London’s Clerkenwell Gallery. The glamorous affair will see guests treated to an evening of cocktails and music, whilst enjoying a showcase of the range. With any luck, they’ll be impressed by the beauty of Flimsymoon enough to make a pledge and seal their part in the future of this wonderful brand.
