This London Fashion Week, bold leather looks contrast with soft pastel colours and kaleidoscopic prints as ethereal and artfully dressed models show us the newest trends and most daring looks that will inspire our SS17 wardrobes. Though these designers may sadly be beyond our price range, their influences and style will most certainly give you fantastic ideas and shape your style for the year to come.

Versus Versace

A dark and dangerous look stalked the catwalk with Versus; jackets of black leather with silver buttons, the models pale with faces framed by long fringes or hair parted down the middle. The boots were strong and heavy, lined with studded straps and armed with chunky buckles; wide straps adorned even the lighter sandals and women’s footwear. Colour was introduced slowly, first an army-green and jackets reminiscent of ace pilots, then the New York taxi yellow that gave an edge to leather-look jackets. If your wardrobe favours a slightly edgy look, this style will fill it up nicely; the frayed denim pieces and striped patterns perfectly touched with yellow and blue soften up what’s a great everyday look.

Anya Hindmarch

Sixties colours in swimwear, the modest beachgoer can cover up with wide-lapels and long, large coats of dark salmon pink, orange, or lavender purple. The models are made up to look almost plastic with bold white headbands and neckbands pulling focus to the colours of this fashion line. There are a few swimsuits, one pieces contoured by sharp, bold patterns that bring to mind that swinging era of daring fashion choices. Many of the coats and jackets are complemented by floral accessories that line the shoulder, making a more powerful outline reminiscent of shoulder pads whilst matching the sandals and shoes that are both simple and attractive; the perfect footwear for the beach.

Mary Katrantzou

Mary Katrantzou seems to have perfected bright patterns that are elaborate without overwhelming the eye. Inspiration from the art of ancient Grecian urns, warring figures, chariots and the indulgences of the Gods was surrounded by vibrant designs that border on optical illusions. History was fused with fashion, as the models displayed frescos and images that contrasted with the modern boldness of the shimmering and eye-catching patterns that contoured the body. As ever Katrantzou favours complex contrasting prints and creative silhouettes, further evolved for a new season and even more impressive in their beauty.
