On the evening of February 13th Kendall Jenner walked for Marc Jacobs in what was to become an unforgettable show for more reasons than one. The NYFW finale, which not only showcased Jacobs first collection since his departure from Louis Vuitton, was also to become the evening that 18 year old Kendall went from second rate sibling to show stopping supermodel all in a New York minute.
“My baby sister killed it today walking in the Marc Jacobs fashion show!!! Kenny you are so dope to me!!! Congrats my baby!!! #NYFW #MarcJacobs #ProudSis,” Khloe wrote on Instagram.
Growing up before the nations eyes in one of the most famous families in America, it would’ve been easy for Kendall to rest on her families’ laurels. But inspired by the ambitious nature of mother Kris and half siblings Kourtney, Kim and Khloe, the young reality star set her sights on her very own career as a supermodel.
At just 15 years of age Kendall signed to Wilhemina modelling agency and featured in campaigns for the likes of Forever 21 as well as shoots for Teen Vogue and OK! Then in November last year she waved goodbye to Wilhemina after being snapped up by innovative, New York-based agency The Society Management. In three short years Kendall has managed to shed her reality TV persona and made the people that matter sit up and take notice – no mean feat in a world full of cynics waiting for her to fail.
Riding high on her recent success young Kenny has officially become part of the high fashion elite, seen cosying up to Anna Wintour on the front row of LFW and sharing selfies with new bffs Jourdan Dunn and Cara D. Whilst the rumour mill goes into overdrive about her on again off again romance with Harry Styles.
Kendall herself would surely be the first to admit that many of the doors opened to her would’ve remained firmly shut sans her Kardashian connections, though no one can deny her sheer determination to break away from the reality TV mould. But now, in a cruel twist of fate, industry professionals fear that her KUWTK stigma could seriously hinder her career progression. But with Kendall hot on Kim K’s heels, we say its the Kardashian clan that should be watching their backs.
