Another year another awards season, kicked off with the Golden Globes on sunday evening. Waiting with baited breath to find out what trend, designer or hairstyle would steal the show it soon became apparent that the chicest accessory on display was your resident beau, as hoards of impeccably dressed celebrity pairs took to the red carpet sporting their latest loved one on their arm. Ensue collective romantic sighs from those in relationships and vehement hissing from those who aren’t!

It seems that long gone are the days of strutting that red carpet alone, as many of Hollywood’s most loved leading men brought along their impeccably dressed other halves who couldn’t help but turn heads in their stunning gowns. Newlywed Mrs Amal Clooney looked picture perfect in a floor length black Dior gown and white opera gloves to complete the couples classic monochrome look. While Amelia Warner, wife of man of the moment Jamie Dornan, ticked all the right boxes with a cream dip hemmed gown fringed with pink ostrich feathers. Just a month before 50 Shades of Grey hits the cinemas, Warner’s dress choice was a refreshing change to extravagant floor length gowns and complimented Dornan’s simple black tux beautifully.

Fifty shades of fabulous

Flying the flag for Great Britain and quite possibly the cutest couple to ever grace the Golden Globes red carpet was Eddie Redmayne and his new wife Hannah Bagshawe. Ever the dapper dresser we were not surprised to see Redmayne well turned out in a clean cut velvet Gucci suit and in a strapless chiffon gown in colour of the moment khaki, Hannah was the picture of understated elegance and grace on the arm of her award winning hubby.

As much as we love to gush over flawlessly dressed A-listers, no red carpet report is complete without a roundup of our favourite sartorial mishaps, and the Golden Globes certainly didn’t disappoint. In vintage Travilla, we’re not sure if Lana Del Rey was conveying her best little mermaid impersonation or just simply confused. Heidi Klum managed to sabotage a stunning Versace gown by clashing the siren red tone with a hideous over-baked orange skin tone and we can’t even begin to fathom which bird of paradise Naomi Campbell was channeling at the Weinstein Company after-party!
