This summer The Design Museum in London celebrates 20 years of Christian Louboutin’s iconic career. From stilettos to sneakers, boots to pumps, Louboutin’s shoes have stolen the hearts of women across the world with their glossy red soles and elegantly crafted heels.
Christian Louboutin has had an exciting and varied career and the the first time ever in the UK, the designs and inspiration behind the shoes are shown to the public, uncovering the secrets behind the theatrical, show-stopping shoes. Louboutin has never been shy about pushing the boundaries of shoe design and as a result he has grown to become a revolutionary in this field.
The exhibition goes into detail on every single aspect of Louboutin’s life, referencing the origins of the red sole, his relationship with cabaret and looks at the allure of the handcrafted shoe. The main focus of the exhibition still remains the exploration of the design process with exhibits taking the viewer on a journey from the initial sketch to the finished shoe.
The exhibition is now running at London’s Design Museum, Shad Thames until the 9th July. Admission charges apply. Visit the Design Museum website for more details… www.designmuseum.org
