Summer is around the corner and may only just be warming our senses, but here at MSL we can’t help but looking forward to the trends that will be keeping us warm in autumn/winter 2012/13. Celebrating the fact we can leave the house in our favourite comfy denim shorts and light blazers, there is still comfort in knowing what colours we can snuggle into when the days are short and brisk.

Evolving from the muted pastels that took to the runways for the SS12 collections, designers have ripened the colours to create a palette that is vibrant, lively, and definitely head turning. This year, the colours on trend are tantalising tangerines, shrinking violets and winter blues as showcased in Matthew Williamson, Christopher Kane, Mulberry and Anna Sui’s AW12 collections.

For a cosy day by the fire or a night on the town, look to Christopher Kane’s collection which induced visions of seduction with his line of romantic violets and puce purples. The violets are majestic and calming, evoking images of dusk during the colder seasons.

Mulberry have brought life to the autumnal seasons with an energetic collection of ostentatious oranges and rich shades of cinnamon, championing the AW12 county heritage look. Moving away from nudes and earthy tones, Mulberry have broadened the horizons and shown that no woman will be left cold in their warm and festive pumpkin shades.

Lastly, winter blues created a chill on the catwalks of Matthew Williamson’s AW12 collection. The blue shades are truly fitting for the winter season and are as sharp as ice. Anna Sui also elevated her collection combining the colour trend with enchanting, folkloric patterns which captivates the fun of the festive seasons.

So this year, don’t shy away from the cold. Excite yourself with the delicious, extravagant and bold colours that will stand out and shine in the dim days.
