I experienced five acts of kindness during the last two weeks and they were all to do with the power of connections. If I’m honest, I am learning how to deal with these kind acts that occurred in such a short space of time.
The first act of kindness was instigated when I met Sergeant Johnson Beharry, Victoria Cross war hero. I listened to his story of love and bravery and decided to join him in a Valentine’s Day challenge. For every Semple dress purchased up to 14 February we will donate 10% to the JBVC Foundation.
The second was that I updated my LinkedIn profile, I am now a member of the Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel. I was and continue to be amazed at the number of people who sent me, in their own words, a message of congratulations.
I’m off to New York in mid-February to introduce the Semple Collection. On Thursday 16 February I will be hosting an early evening reception and when I reached out to my networks in the UK and US, the generosity of sharing contacts has been overwhelming.
My fourth act of kindness is to do with Semple magazine. Our tenth edition is out now and free to read on digital publishing platform ISSUU. The ‘Evolution’ issue has had 1.5 million impressions since its launch on Monday 23 January.
And my last experience was a phone call from Nabil, a London taxi driver who had found a mobile phone in his cab, my contact number was on the phone. We set about trying to work out the mobile phone owner and resolved it within an hour. While doing so I thought how kind of him to bother.
To the millions of people who have been touched by Semple, I thank you for your kindness.
