Trend Report: Embellishment

Now that the Christmas party season is well and truly upon us, team MSL can’t think of a better way to celebrate with festive fashionableness than in a beautifully overstated party-dress. Whether it be a cascade of ruffles, a bit of seasonal sparkle, some intricate applique, or some stylish studding, there seems to be one rule and one rule only when it comes to embellishment – the heavier the better!

The embellished trend comes around every festive season and provides a welcome chance to be strikingly decorated. The images below show some of team MSL’s favourite embellished dresses. Working from left to right, we have fallen in love with a range of dresses from Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, Bottega Veneta, Jigsaw and Akiras Isogawa. All these are purchasable from www.brownsfashion.com and jigsaw-online.com right now.

It is not, however, only evening dresses that get a decorative makeover at this time of year. Designs from Erdem, Stella McCartney and Lanvin now offer alternative embellished garments to the party dress. Their designs can be dressed up or down, so whatever the time of day or night there really is no excuse not to add a little seasonal magic to your outfit.

Team MSL are in particular admiration of the looks of best model nominee Georgia Jagger, Poppy Delevingne who wore S/S12 Matthew Williamson, and Olivia Palermo who also wore an absolutely beautiful on trend Williamson design.
