Three Autumn Trends

As I type this, the rain is falling heavily outside my bedroom window and the wind is blustering around the trees. I can see the leaves turning rich browns and the conkers growing ever more rotund. It is hard then not to think about the new season and the cosy autumnal wardrobe which inevitably accompanies it.

Whilst it’s tempting to add bundles of new knitwear, heeled boots and chunky winter coats to your wardrobe collection, but what about the trends for autumn? If you are someone who likes to dabble in new trends or perhaps someone who is there making notes on their iPhone when the A/W catwalk shows begin earlier in the year, then it’s a good idea to pick your favourites rather than trying to incorporate every single one. By choosing two or three, it naturally becomes easier to wear them – and means you are not mindlessly investing in a trend that you won’t be interested in come the new year.

As with each new season we tend to see the return of popular trends of years gone by, and this autumn is no exception. Rich, jewel shades, velvet, plaid and lots of texture are already filling our favourite stores, enticing us into the cold weather ahead.

In addition to these perpetual favourites we are also seeing a few more refreshing trends too. Whilst a ‘trend’ typically denotes a passing fad or phase in fashion, it’s important not to simply buy just because but rather consider those which will slip seamlessly into your current wardrobe and of course it goes without saying, invest in those you genuinely love.

The three I have chosen below are a little more timeless, so that, even when their popularity begins to waver, you can keep them tucked away in your wardrobe for many more years to come.
