Monday welcomes the style diary of blogger My Pollyanna; real name Laura. A mother and full-time fashionista juggling daily life with kids and the countryside. Laura’s creative flair is apparent in her approach to dressing practically, while still maintaining her style. Starting from the bottom up, these incredible metallic courts are the ideal accompaniment for any wardrobe, taking this look from country to town with one quick change. Pairing her shoes with classic dark denim turn ups, a basic cream top and tweed blazer. This is one yummy mummy.

Meet My Pollyanna

What do you do when your not blogging?

I have two girls who dominate the rest of life. But blogging is my escapism from the realities of everyday life as a mum and a wife. I love to run and keep fit, it keeps my mind focussed and gives me a sense of achievement.

What interests you?

Simplicity interests me. I’m curious as to how the simplest things can be the hardest to achieve.

What is your motivation everyday?

My motivation everyday is to be my very best, to keep striving to be a better me. I love looking for ways of pushing myself to achieve more. I’m really happy (and lucky) with my lot but I love the challenge of pushing the boundaries to really see what you’re capable of.

Do you have a treasured garment?

Tricky. I’m a big believer in utilising everything you have but I have certain things that I use and treasure because I know they’ll last me a lifetime. My Burberry Heritage trench in honey and my Prada tote in clay grey. Used, battered but much loved.

What is your best style advice?

Wear what suits you. Know your style and be confident in your choices. You’ll always feel most comfortable in something that feels “you” so stick to that, not trends.

Who is your style inspiration?

I’m a classic so my obvious choice is the modern day Audrey Hepburn, the beautiful Olivia Palermo. But I love the confidently colourful style of J.Crew Creative Director & President, Jenna Lyons too.

Where do you see yourself in ten years time?

I think it’s good to have big dreams and ambitions but I don’t look too far into the future, instead I concentrate on doing a good job today. One of my favourite quotes is “Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves”. I’m about to embark upon a new venture and chapter in my life and become a business owner so in 10 years time I’d like to think I will be a successful business owner with two happy, content teenage girls (now that’s scary!).

What is your biggest highlight in your career to date?

Since blogging I’ve had a number of great highlights. I was thrilled to be featured in a magazine and I have loved having opportunities to meet amazing people who inspire me. But in all honesty, I really feel that the best is yet to come.

Which trends will make a return next season?

I think we’re going to continue to see a lot more leather, loads of leopard and fringing.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I’d love to be remembered for being someone who knows her mind and sticks to her beliefs with integrity and spirit. Obviously it would be nice if people thought I was stylish and lovely too!
