‘When I wear a silk scarf I never feel so definitely like a woman, a beautiful woman.’ – Audrey Hepburn

Scarves tend to be commonly associated with the colder months, when the skies stay grey and our senses are warmed up by burning logs and steaming soup. But as with most accessories, their versatility allows them to transcend the seasons, so you can style them in as many ways as you want.

Scarves have a history that begins with ancient Egyptians and touches upon Croatian, Chinese and French cultures. They are perhaps the single most constant item in the history of clothing. They have been worn wrapped around the body as ancient, agricultural clothing, to cover the head and hair during times of war when women worked in factories, and crowned as the stars of the show in glossy magazines with Liberty’s renowned prints. No matter how it is worn, a beautiful, light weight scarf is a wardrobe essential, and this post will show you why with some of our favourite ways to wear a scarf…

The Perfect accent for a leather jacket. Loosely wear it around the neck for a casual, rock chic look.

Put some pretty into your hair by tying it around your top knot, or in this case, a low, slung back bun.

Wrap the scarf around the rim of your head in the style of a turban. This is a great look for the beach, especially when teamed with some oversized sunnies.

Plait it into your hair, to add some colour and texture to your locks without having to use a harsh dye. Nodding to the festival, folk look, this is a big trend to watch this year.

Tie it to the strap of your handbag to add some Parisian romance to our outfit.
