Royal Mail has released a collection of 10 stamps paying homage to British designers to celebrate 60 years of British fashion. The chic first class postage stamps feature work from some of Britain’s most iconic designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and Alexander McQueen.

The stamps, which were released on May 15th, have been unveiled in honour of our legendary fashion industry and in perfect time for Britain’s Olympic and Jubilee year.

Renowned fashion photographer, Sølve Sundsbø, who worked with live models but decided not to use their facial expressions, created the pictures that adorn the stamps. Sundsbø has managed to capture perfectly the creativity and innovative vision British fashion possess with this striking collection.

Us Brits are famous the world over for our fashion designers; from the glamorous sophistication of Norman Hartnell, to the punk movement of Vivienne Westwood and breathtaking designs of late Alexander McQueen, Britain’s fashion industry really does deserve recognition, and here at MSL we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate all things British for 2012.

The Royal Mail stamps collocation will feature the work of the following fashion designers:

Vivienne Westwood
Paul Smith
Alexander McQueen
Granny Takes a Trip
Ossie Clark with Celia Birtwell
Tommy Nutter
Jean Muir
Hardy Amies
Norman Hartnell

The Great British Fashion Stamps are available to purchase from all Post Office branches
