It’s a name that we’ve heard a lot about this year, and even more so in the last few weeks following the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry. Set to wed in spring next year, their whirlwind romance has popped Meghan Markle centre stage.

Well-known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit TV series, Suits, Markle has always been recognised for her valuable contribution to charities and humanitarian work too. Drawing many similarities to Harry’s mother in this instance, it’s certainly an admirable quality, and one which apparently helped her and Harry to bond.

Dating since July 2016, the pair have confirmed that they will marry in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and live in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace – also the official residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Although, undoubtedly, there will be speculation as to the wedding dress she will choose, if Meghan’s style timeline to date is anything to go by, I’m sure it’ll be utterly beautiful.

It’s been said that the ‘Meghan Effect’ is now in full swing, with items selling out in a matter of hours after she is seen wearing them. The cream coat she wore by Line the Label for her engagement photoshoot, reportedly crashed the website of the small Canadian designer, with the coat selling out in minutes. The effect was so great in fact that they have now renamed the coat, ‘Meghan’. More recently, following her first official outing with Prince Harry, the Strathberry bag she was seen carrying, also sold out in just 11 minutes.

It seems that Ms Markle’s endorsement is enough to encourage us to part with our cash. We saw a similar situation with Kate Middleton in the past too – but with Meghan, her influence is travelling across the pond. British designers, including Mulberry and Barbour, are expecting to see a sharp rise in popularity coming from America as Meghan is seen wearing their designs. Sporting a pair of black Hunter wellies back in February, reportedly led to an 18% global increase in internet searches – with a 30% rise seen in America alone.

As their relationship blossoms and the wedding date is set, I’m sure the Meghan Effect will continue to take hold of the fashion world too.
