If there’s two things we love in the Semple office it’s great makeup and good puns, so when we found out that LA based makeup brand Lime Crime was combining the two in spectacular fashion we just had to find out more!
From ‘Lavendairy’ lilac nail polish and ‘Orchidaceous’ purple eyeliner, to my personal favourite…‘New Yolk City’ yellow (geddit?!) lipstick, Lime Crime is putting the quirky into cosmetics and making the whole experience a hell of a lot more fun. In their own words, they are a “colour revolution” urging customers to live life unapologetically and to express their personalities through great makeup. And not only that, the products that this team of self confessed makeup renegades offer are also cruelty free and vegan friendly.
At the helm of the Lime Crime ship is blue-haired CEO, Doe Deere, who started the company with just “a few hundred bucks and a dream”. Described as a collision of Doe’s two passions: makeup and fairytales, Lime Crime is like a delicious slice of kitsch campness for those that aren’t quite comfortable with conforming! Think my little pony meets Mary Katrantzou and you’ll be on the right track.
While I completely understand that sparkling unicorns and orange lipstick aren’t to everyones taste, I can’t help but feel that we could all learn a little something from Lime Crime and their idiosyncratic approach to women’s war paint. So with Halloween just around the corner why not haul yourself out of that makeup rut and experiment with something new, and you never know it might just stick long past All Hallows’ Eve after all.
