The Savill Garden in Englefield Green

Since its creation in the 1930s, The Savill Garden has been an inspiration for all. This natural haven of beautifully designed gardens and woodland can be enjoyed by everyone, from dedicated horticulturists to those who just want to spend a relaxing day out with family or friends. The 35 acres of interconnected gardens include the Hidden Gardens, Spring Wood, the Summer Gardens, the New Zealand Garden, Summer Wood, The Glades, Autumn Wood and the Winter Beds.

After you’ve wandered a while, grab a bit to eat at the Savill cafe. Boasting floor to ceiling windows  you can sit with a refreshing drink whilst gazing out at expansive Garden.

 

Drifters Coffee House in Henley-on-thames

Great coffee, good tunes, homemade cakes, real vibes! Oh and free wifi and dogs welcome, obvs! Drifters Coffee House is the train child of Brother and Sister-in-Law duo Cam and Talia, who take two things seriously; coffee and connections!

Split over two levels ‘Drifters’ is their ode to a creative caffeinated community who want their coffee with a side of no fuss honesty from a brand that’s homegrown.

Retro games, homemade bakes, and good tunes are served up alongside top notch brews, in a environment that strives to be as plastic free as it can, making Drifters the ultimate feel good place to kick back and chill in a world dominated by throwaway chains! Situated on Duke Street this quirky little hub is the perfect pit stop while visiting this picturesque riverside town.

 

Thames Lido in Reading

Relax, indulge, unwind…Tucked away on a quiet corner of Kings Meadow, right by the River Thames,
Thames Lido is the ultimate  urban retreat and is open all year round. The  Lido is the result of a 3-year restoration project undertaken by the team behind Bristol Lido, as seen on Michel Roux’s Hidden Restaurants.

Much like its Bristolian older bro Thames Lido boots a fab bar and restaurant offfering up unpretentious dining with a strong Spanish and Mediterranean feel. The open kitchen and its wood burning ovens and bespoke charcoal grill add to the drama already created by the grade 2 listed outdoor pool and surrounding buildings. A full onsite spa and The 25m outdoor heated swimming pool is designed to leave you feeling fresh and energised.

 

 

Mayfield Lavender Fields in Epsom

On a glorious summer’s day you could easily think you were in Provence as you approach the 25 acres of bright purple blossoms that make up Mayfield Lavender Farm. Tucked away behind a stretch of Croydon Lane on the North Surrey Downs in Epsom, this family-run organic farm is open from late spring until autumn, but if you’re planning to take part in its annual photo competition, owners Lorna and Brendan Maye advise visiting during July and August. Four miles away at Reigate Road near Epsom Downs, there’s also a nursery and gift shop, open year-round

While visiting the farm you can also enjoy a delicious, fresh lunch or snack at their relaxed, al fresco café comeplete with picnic tables, perfect for soaking up the views and abundant scents of lavender. You can even book a lavender cream tea for an extra special touch or enjoy food from the barbecue during July and August.
