When we are little Christmas is all about having the biggest present under the tree, but as she gets older every girl learns that sometimes the smallest box can be the most exciting. Nestled amongst the pine needles and tinsel like a delicious secret, a tiny, perfectly formed box can only mean one thing. Jewellery.
Jewellery is exactly what new brand Joubi is all about; so much so that the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that Joubi is in fact a reworking of the French word for jewellery, bijou. Now there are ladies who like a bit of bling or sparkle and then there are women who want their jewellery to make a statement. If you fall into the latter category then you will want to become closer acquainted with this London label.
Launched in July this year, Joubi’s first collection is inspired by creative director Joanne Bourne’s travels to Africa and Asia. Vibrant colour and form create a Flora and Fauna collection where each stone is individually sourced so no two pieces are exactly the same. The Flora and Fauna ring is a real showstopper and the signature piece of the collection.
Using only the finest materials has ensured that Joubi has already caught the eye of Sarah Harding and Pixie Lott by using an array of envy inducing stones including Black Onyx, Smoky Quartz and Moonstones which are set in 18K rose, yellow, white and blackened gold. Each piece is finished off with an engraving of the Joubi logo which features a yellow diamond and is the final seal of quality.
Joanna Bourne, who graduated from the Gemological institute of America in 2009, says of her first collection, “My aim was to create a very wearable and versatile collection keeping up with modern trends through exceptional quality pieces. The collection was designed to have a piece in it for everyone.” From the quirky to the cool, to the downright extravagant this collection celebrates everything from the exotic to the ordinary.
So forget Jason Bourne and give your loved ones a Joanna Bourne ultimatum this year; there better be Joubi in your stocking or Santa is going to be on your naughty list.
