Following on from New York City, the editors, stylists and street-style icons have graced the streets of our capital for the highly anticipated catwalk shows of Tommy Hilfiger, Anya Hindmarch and Topshop, amongst others, for S/S18.

Much like NYC, those snapped on the streets of London went all out to impress in a brilliant and inspiring nod to the current autumn season.

Wearable, original and creative, and drawing on the popular trends forecast for A/W17, it seems as though autumn has well and truly arrived. Although this means we now bid farewell to those long summer evenings, opportunities to wear floaty gingham dresses and straw hats, it’s time to welcome in the chunky knitwear and borg-lined jackets.

Together with a wide variety of textures – from voluptuous velvets to sparkly sequins and floaty florals – there was one micro trend which has placed itself firmly in the fashion trend stakes for the autumn months ahead.

The humble blazer – adored by many as a workwear staple, for others a nostalgic memory of strict school uniform days – has been reinvented over the decades. From structured shoulder-padded designs to country-inspired tweed, it became a frequent sight on the streets of London between catwalk shows.

Paired with denim, midi-skirts and over-sized slogan tees, we saw an array of different and eclectic styles. From stripes to block colours, pastels to checks, it’s the perfect sartorial statement for transitional dressing. When the temperature’s not quite cold enough to bring out all the cosy faux furs or the oversized thick woollen coats we safely stored at the back of our wardrobes earlier this year, a well-made blazer can work wonders for those nip-in-the-air days.
